Soon to be a major world religion!
July 24th-26th, 2009: HuskyCon VII
New for 2009
HuskyCon has a lot of repeat visitors because of the high quality of the event. I forget the exact statistics, but most people who come to our tournament, come back again and again. This year however I would like to highlight a few changes that will be taking place.
1. Graham:
For the first time ever Graham will not be attending HuskyCon. Graham has been paramount to the success of HuskyCon. He has worked tirelessly during the event, administering the tournament as its director. After six consecutive years of service, he will be unable to make it this year. What that will mean for the tournament is not sure yet. It will happen. Either Conrad or an outsider will act as the tournaments director in his absence. He will be missed.
2. Drinking:
The past few HuskyCons have been getting a little wild. HuskyCon VI was certainly no exception. This year we would like our guests to make an effort to control themselves and to be considerate of the other players in the tournament. HuskyCon has been growing year by year until last year when it was a very important leg of the North American Grand Prix. Because of the growing significance of HuskyCon, the tournament staff has decided to try and host a more serious event. The tournament staff will be following suit on this issue. We don't want to discourage anyone from having fun, but we are asking that everyone exercise control and good judgment.
3. Children:
In past years, we have encourage people to bring their families with them. The venue is in a beautiful location on the edge of Long Island Sound. We have had kayaking and swimming and video games for children and spouses to entertain themselves with. While we are not discouraging people from bringing their families we would like to issue a warning: This is an event with a lot of people. Many people will be drinking during the weekend. Diplomacy is a game that creates a lot of conflict among players. Last year we had complaints about some of the language that was being used. If this was a problem last year, it will be a problem again this year. Keep that in mind when you consider bringing your family.
4. Scoring System:
No promises on this one. It might stay the same, it might change. The issue is currently being reviewed. Since We are behind schedule with building the website and planning for the event, the scoring system will not be revealed until the day of the event, or shortly before it. Check the website the week of the tournament for updated information about this year's scoring system.
5. The Cliff:
Because of the events at last year's HuskyCon, the cliff behind the venue has had a taste for blood. We will be requiring all of our guests to at least verbal acknowledge the dangers of the cliff, and at least one person will be signing a personal injury waiver.
Please direct any questions or concerns you have to the site mailing address, and good luck.
